What IS New:
- Solutions to HW2 and HW4 are now available, in hardcopy, in the handout monster outside the NERL (JXJ 2110). I'll bring copies to class on Thursday (Oct. 27).

Quiz 4, Predicate Logic (Nested Quantifiers) will be given in class this Thursday, 10-4-16. See below for more info.

The ACTUAL QUIZ 1 will be in class tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016. Information is below, including links to the practice Q1 we covered in class.
I plan to hand out a SOLUTION to HW1 in class tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016. I can't accept late HW1 submissions after that point, so if you haven't turned in HW1 yet then please get it to me by class time tomorrow, at the latest!
Homework 2 was assigned in class yesterday, Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016. (Due date to be determined.) Information and link below. (BTW, handout incorrectly states the reading for HW2 as "section 1.2 of Rosen." The correct section is 1.3, Logical Equivalences.)
Reminder that extra hardcopies of handouts, such as HW2, practice quiz, solutions, etc. are available in the "handout monster" outside the NERL (JXJ 2110).
I uploaded some of the presentation slides (for Chapter 1, Part 1: Propositional Logic) to Educat. You should be able to log in to our Educat account and download the MS PowerPoint file, if you'd like!
I put extra printouts of HW1, the syllabus, and the prop. logic practice sheet in the "handout monster" (the large gray metal filing unit outside the NERL (robotics lab), 2110 JXJ, down the little hall off the 2nd floor atrium "terrace"). This will allow you to get extra copies, if you want them, outside of classtimes.
Assigned Homework 1, below. (Note the change of the due date, pushed back one day to Friday, Sept. 2, to allow for any lingering questions to be answered in class on Thursday.)

Quiz 2: Logical Equivalence
- Date: Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 in class. Open book, open notes, open computer. Example Q2 is here. Solution we do together in class on Tuesday before the quiz.
Quiz 3: Predicate Logic (Non-nested Quantifiers)
- Date: Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 in class. Open book, open notes, open computer. Format: match first order predicate logic expressions with English language expressions that are "equivalent." Examples of Q3 were handed out in class and together we answered the questions on the practice quiz 3. Extra hardcopies are in the handout cabinet outside of JXJ 2110 (the NERL). FINAL EXAM:

Final exam will be _____________________________. Open book, open notes, but DO YOUR OWN WORK! Should take about an hour to do the exam but plan for the whole two hours so that you can take your time, doublecheck your answers, ask questions, have a few cookies, etc. Here is a detailed guide to the topics and format for the exam.
