  • Goals:  Create a first, complete web page using some of the early web elements characteristic of the mid-1990s (see examples from he WWW directory book that I passed around in class, or just look at MY class web pages!).  This will help you get started in web page development while also giving you a feel for the history of the web.  Specifically, create a static web page with lists and hyperlinks, and good structure, meaning proper nesting of html elements and good style (indenting and comments).
  • Details:
    • Choose your own topic for a web site.  Create a web page (.html file) with the following properties.  You must come up with sufficient content (just text for this assignment) to be able to accomplish the following tasks while the web page realistic, readable, and pleasant!  (But you don't have to make it a masterpiece!)

    2	Elements (Physical and Logical):   Use at least eight different elements (e.g., strike, u, i, sup, sub, tt, big, small, strong, code, dfn, samp, cite).   (8 pts.) Headings:  Use at least two different heading levels (of h1 through h6)   (2 pts.) Others:  Use at least two other "block-level" elements such as <blockquote>, <hr>, or <p>.  (4 pt.s)	14

    5	Hyperlink:                           An anchor element ("<a>") that links some text to some web site somewhere.	4
    6	Attributes and Colors: Use the "bgcolor" html attribute with an interesting color for some element on your web page.  Make it very visible!  Use the "font" element along with the "color" attribute with an interesting color for some text on your web page.  Make it very visible!    (e.g., Name the only oscar-winning film that has the word <font color="purple"> purple</font> in the title.)	4
    7	Good style (indentation and some "main" comments at the top, including name, etc.) in your source file.  (as we discussed in class)	4
    8	Nesting:   Properly nest all of your html elements, as discussed in class.  (E.g., the following is incorrectly nested:  "<strong><i>Important!</strong></i>")	4
