Physical Attacks

Definition:  Any attack using access to the physical machine.

Difficulty Rating:  Very Easy
 

Methods:

    Idea:  Take the hard drive from the machine.
    Problem:  The police call this theft.

    Idea:  Look in the web cache of someone else's computer.
    Problem:  They might be boring.  They might catch you.

    Idea:  Boot off you're own floppy disk.  Then browse the hard drive all you want.
    Problem:  You might be at the machine for hours.  There might be a BIOS password.

    Idea:  Pull the battery from the motherboard.  Then boot without the bios password protection.
    Problem:  People will wonder why you're opening the case.

    Idea:  Tap into a phone line of an ATM and record the conversation between it and the bank.
    Problem:  Getting to the phone line. FBI.
