# Submission Checklist: Sharing Your Work

Sep 25, 2026

Four steps to get your to me: **write** the `.qmd` in Positron, **render** it, drop the rendered `.html` in your **SAMBA** folder, and **confirm** it opens cleanly with formatting and figures intact.

## 1. Write and render in Positron

- [ ] Write your `.qmd` file in Positron, with all code chunks that produce the output you want to submit
- [ ] Click **Render** (or run `quarto render yourfile.qmd`) and let it finish without errors
- [ ] Confirm a new `.html` file with the same name appeared next to your `.qmd` file
- [ ] Open that `.html` file yourself first — if a chunk errored or a figure didn't generate, fix it and re-render before moving on

## 2. Move it to the SAMBA folder

- [ ] Open/mount your SAMBA folder (connect to it if it isn't already mounted)
- [ ] Copy the rendered `.html` file into your SAMBA folder — not the `.qmd` source file
- [ ] If your `.qmd` produced a companion folder of images/assets (something like `yourfile_files/`), copy that folder in too, alongside the `.html` — without it, figures won't display
- [ ] Use a clear, consistent filename (e.g. your name or assignment name) so I can tell whose work it is

**Tip:** add `embed-resources: true` under `format: html:` in your `.qmd`'s YAML header before rendering. That bundles everything into one self-contained `.html`, so there's no separate folder to remember to copy.

## 3. Double-check before you're done

- [ ] Open the `.html` file straight from the SAMBA folder (not your local copy) to confirm it looks right from where I'll actually read it
- [ ] All formatting shows correctly — headings, text, tables render as expected, nothing shows as raw code or broken markup
- [ ] Every figure/plot you made actually appears in the file, not just a broken image icon
- [ ] No visible errors, warnings, or `Error in ...` messages left in the output
- [ ] The file opens on its own, without needing your `.qmd` file or local project folder open at the same time
