Here’s my CV and teaching statement.
I grew up in the tiny town of Eva, Alabama. I moved north to college in South Carolina, where I played football and received a B.A. in Mathematics from Wofford College. I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2000.I have a Master’s degree in Mathematics, speacializing in knot theory, where I worked with Hugh Howards. I moved west to study geometry & topology under Ken Bromberg where I finished my Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Utah.
I like to ride bikes, float on water, glide on snow and practice yoga. For a few pictures click here. I worked for several seasons as a whitewater rafting guide in Tennessee, West Virginia and Colorado.
I often find beauty and mathematics in the strangest of places.I enjoy making and listening to music.
My wife was a professor at NMU and is now the Assistant Vice President of Sustainability.
We have two wonderful daughters.
