Writing, like most creative activities, is one in which we all can improve. Before submitting your work have a look here to learn how you might improve your stuff.

Solutions and explanations to previous week's homework sets are provided below. Clicking on the link will produce a .pdf file to download, and clicking on the arrow will embed the document in your browswer.

Problem Set 1 - Tuesday Jan. 24

Computer Lab in Weber 205/206, 9:00 9:50am

Here are some exercises to use with dfield.

Problem Set 2 - Due Wednesday, Jan. 25

Section 1.2: #6,10,14;

Section 1.3: #2,6,12,14,20,24,27 (no sketches required);

Section 2.1: #2,4,6,8,10,12,14 (no plots or sketches required);

Problem Set 3 - Due Wednesday, Feb. 1

Section 2.1: #4,6,12 (now make the plots),22,25,27,29,31 (use dfield6);

Section 2.2: #2,8,12,14,18,20 (hand sketch sufficient), 24,25;

Problem Set 4 - Due Wednesday, Feb. 8

Section 2.3: #4,6,8,9,12;

Extra Problem: A woman of 60 kg bails out of an airplane at an altitude of 10,000 ft. She falls freely (no air resistance) for 20 s and then opens the parachute. The parachute provides an air resistance of –kv, where k=96 kg/s and v is the velocity. When does the woman reach the ground and what is her impact velocity? Use g=32 ft/s2 in your calculation.

Section 2.4: #2,4,6,8,14,18,29 - [Solutions to 14,18,29]
